چکیده

Here we describe the lizard fauna from locality of Montchenot (Paris Basin, late Paleocene, MP6). This material can be allocated to five major clades: Scincoidea, Lacertoidea (?Lacertidae), Amphisbaenia, Anguimorpha (?Anguidae and Shinisauridae). The assemblage Monchenot is dominated by small specimens appears as highly sorted. Predation could produce such biased assemblages. composition rather similar those Cernay-lès-Reims Rivecourt, two coeval localities (MP6) in Paris Basin. However, these faunas sharply contrast (in diversity composition) with found early Eocene same area Basin Belgian Basin). These differences highlight impact Paleocene/Eocene transition on Europe.

Redescription of Tijubina pontei, an Early Cretaceous lizard (Reptilia; Squamata) from the Crato Formation of Brazil.

The record of Gondwanan Mesozoic lizards is very poor. Among the few species described for this region there is Tijubina pontei, an Early Cretaceous lizard from the Crato Formation (late Aptian) of northeast Brazil. Its description is very brief and lacks most of its diagnostic characters and clear delimitation from other lizard species. Here, a full redescription of the holotype is provided. T...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the black-tailed brush lizard Urosaurus nigricaudus (Reptilia, Squamata, Phrynosomatidae).

Previous studies using mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) genes suggest the black-tailed brush lizard, Urosaurus nigricaudus, which is a small-sized lizard from the peninsula of Baja California, Mexico, has 4 deeply isolated mtDNA lineages with sequence divergence ranging from 4% to 11.2%. We present its complete mitochondrial genome. This genome is 17,298 bp long and comprises 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, 13 pro...

Microchromosome polymorphism in the sand lizard, Lacerta agilis Linnaeus, 1758 (Reptilia, Squamata)

Most true lizards (Lacertidae) share a conservative karyotype, consisting of 18 pairs of macrochromosomes and one microchromosome pair. Homeologues of the microchromosome are present in other squamates and even in chickens. No structural autosomal microchromosome polymorphisms have been described previously in lizards. We found homozygous and heterozygous carriers of a microchromosome variant i...

Neaves’ Whiptail Lizard: the First Known Tetraploid Parthenogenetic Tetrapod (reptilia: Squamata: Teiidae)

The first known tetraploid amniote that reproduces through parthenogenetic cloning by individual females is named and described. The species originated through hybridization between Aspidoscelis exsanguis (triploid parthenogen) 3 Aspidoscelis inornata (diploid bisexual or gonochoristic species) in the laboratory. We compared multivariate morphological variation between two lineages that arose f...
